WHO:Krister D JohnsonI was raised the son of a Lutheran Minister in St. Cloud, Minnesota. After graduating from Tech High School, I went on to college to study and major in religion and economics at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. Having not received "the call" into the ministry, I worked in the insurance field for two years with Prudential Group Insurance. After two years of working in the insurance industry, I felt drawn to another great family tradition: the law. My Maternal Great Grandfather Frank Wasgatt graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1897, practicing in Winnebago, Minnesota. Frank Wasgatt's son John went into the law and became a Judge in that same County. My Paternal Great Grandfather A.G. Johnson was the Douglas County Representative in the Minnesota House from 1893-1894, and as a member of the Minnesota Senate from 1895-1898.
I left Prudential to attend the highly regarded University of Minnesota Law School, with an emphasis of study in civil trial work. After graduation, I took a position with the Quinlivan Law Firm in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in the insurance defense practice. In that capacity, I handled many complex issues personal injury issues, including several appellate cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court. I soon realized that my talents were not being utilized to help families suffering from the result of personal injury and wrongful death, but in fact, was working against their interests on behalf of insurance companies. I did not enjoy that work. Armed with the tactics of the opposition, I began working for injured people. In the year 2000, I became the St. Cloud partner for the firm of Gempeler, Kenyon & Butwinick. During that time, I achieved sizable and satisfying financial results for the firm's clients. In December of 2004, I made the decision to create my own law firm dedicated to the professionalism and loyalty of a bygone era . . .
